Why We're Buying
While Château Lafleur doesn't have a classification, it consistently ranked among Bordeaux's most prestigious estates. Les Pensées de Lafleur is a second wine, known as an "insider's secret." Château Lafleur only released 750 bottles of this merlot-cabernet franc blend per year, with investors paying more than $150 per bottle.
Critics Scores
Stephen Tanzer
Good deep ruby-red. Blackberry, bitter chocolate and mint on the nose, lifted by black pepper and fresh herbs and complicated by a whiff of woodsmoke. Juicy and moderately dense, with good energy but modest flesh to the black fruit flavors. Finishes with firm, slightly drying tannins and a note of licorice. This second wine contains the third picking of merlot, which Guinaudeau admits was not quite ripe enough. 85-88 Points
