Why We're Buying
Pierre Duroché utilizes six parcels planted between 1938 and 1981 to assemble this cuvée. The elegant pinot noir comes with a multi-layered body and concentrated fruit flavors. While Domaine Duroché Lavaut Saint-Jacques requires time in the cellar, it returned 108 on investment from 2017 to 2021.

Vinous
The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a refined bouquet with dark berry fruit, Earl Grey, light earthy scents emerging with time. There is just a hint of espresso in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, taut and fresh, not an intense Gevrey-Chambertin with just a little attenuation towards the finish. Maybe a little rustic compared to recent vintages, but there is a lovely tang of spice on the aftertaste. Tasted at Domaine Duroché.
