2011 castello di ama, apparita, igt
Why We're Buying
Castello di Ama l'Apparita is a force to be reckoned with, as it bursts forth with power and concentration. Blackberries, cherries, and cassis soak the palate with smoke, brioche, cigars, and tar rounding out the flavor profile. This wine contains 100% merlot and conveys remarkable balance with a refreshingly acidic finish. Wine critic James Suckling gave the 2017 vintage a 97-point rating, writing in his review, "I am impressed by the freshness here, as well as the intensity for the vintage."
The 2011 L'Apparita is magnificent, but it will take the better part of the next decade to show the full breadth of its pedigree. Dark and sumptuous in personality, the 2011 is incredibly youthful at this stage, with very little in the way of aromatic development. That will come in time. there is something unmistakably exotic to the 2011 that is likely to always remain a part of its DNA. Not surprisingly, of the three flagships, the Apparita is the most marked by the personality of the year.
