Why We're Buying
Château Latour is a giant in the winemaking industry, a first-growth Bordeaux based in Pauillac. Its third wine, named after the commune, has been a featured part of the estate's portfolio since 1989. At roughly $100 per bottle, it's a perfect way to tap into the prestige and legacy of Bordeaux wine.
Critics Scores
James Suckling
The purity of fruit is bright and focused with strawberries and spices. Medium body, firm and silky tannins and a fresh finish. Crisp and pretty. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator
Offers a core of pure cassis and blackberry fruit, with mouthwatering streaks of graphite and anise. Racy-edged, featuring ample grip buried through the finish. Reveals a violet echo for good measure. Textbook.
Vinous
The 2014 Pauillac de Château Latour is a refined and polished wine that expresses the gracious, mid-weight style of the year nicely. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, earthiness and wild cherries add aromatic dimension. The 2014 is just starting to enter the early plateau of its optimal drinking window. I would prefer to drink it over the next 7-10 years. In 2014, the Pauillac is 50 Cabernet Sauvignon, 43 Merlot and 7 Petit Verdot. (AG)
