Why We're Buying

Château Le Gay is a sleepy Pomerol property that has only recently begun recognizing its potential. Under the ownership of Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau, the quality and praise for its Bordeaux red blend reached new heights.

Wine Spectator

Dark purple in color, with aromas of coffee, green olive, blackberry and dried flowers. Full-bodied, with very polished yet present tannins and a long, rich, fruity finish. The best Le Gay in years. (JS)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2005 Le Gay is a massive, masculine Pomerol, very much in the style of Gazin, but showing much more minerality, abundant blue and black fruits, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and loads of tannin in a youthful, backward style, even at age 10. Give this wine at least another 5-10 years of cellaring and drink it over the following quarter-century. (RP) 95+
