Why We're Buying
For an estate with a Premier grand cru classé (B) rating, Château Troplong Mondot doesn't garner as much attention. The estate has turned that perception around in recent years, thanks to collaborations with oenologist Michel Rolland and Food and Wine Magazine's Winemaker of the Year, Aaron Pott.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2002 from Troplong Mondot, which stands out for its purity and intensity, has a deep purple and gives off fabulous aromas of undergrowth, blackcurrant, smoke and crushed stone. Its supple tannins and tender are beautifully taut, and the whole, which is expressed with infinite precision, reveals, in addition to a full texture in the middle of the palate, an astounding finish.
