Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2015 Richebourg Grand Cru has a very intense bouquet, like many Richebourgs a little standoffish at first, though it soon opens up with powerful aromas of black cherries, anise, orange zest and wet stones. You still come away with the impression that you are only witnessing the tip of the aromatic iceberg. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin, vibrant red and black fruit with hints of mandarin and balsamic. It crescendos with multilayered, mineral-rich black fruit with a healthy pinch of white pepper and an otherworldly prolonged aftertaste. Stunning.(NM)

Dark, bright medium red. Knockout nose combines aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, dark chocolate, coffee, mocha and smoky silex. Powerful on entry, then incredibly silky and seamless but vibrant too, with thick flavors of black raspberry and dark chocolate lifted by a piquant citrus quality. Voluminous and sweet but tightly wound, this utterly compelling wine finishes with great energy and length and a refreshing note of bitter orange that stimulates the salivary glands. And yet I sense that I'm only seeing the tip of the iceberg today. These Grivot grand crus are showing spectacularly now. If they don't shut down in bottle, that will be because they have perfect balance. (ST)

This is the most restrained of the three grands crus and it takes aggressive swirling to reveal the reluctant aromas of black cherry, plum, rose petal and beautiful range of spice wisps. The big-bodied, powerful and incredibly rich flavors are tighter and less forthcoming with strikingly good underlying material while displaying stunningly fine depth on the mineral-inflected and wonderfully persistent finish. This too is blessed with seemingly unending reserves of dry extract that do an excellent job of buffering the very firm tannic spine. Patience, and lots of it, is absolutely essential here. In a word, brilliant. 2035+
