The Wine Front
Bright, spicy, sweet red cherry and strawberry, savoury dried herb, aniseed, suede, so complex, and in many ways, more like a great Burgundy than Tuscan wine, though the DNA of region and grape is well expressed. Medium-bodied, light and effortless, such fine acidity – like biting into a fresh strawberry – then spiced strawberry, gently smudgy tannin, cool red fruit almond and dusting of tannin on a superb long finish. Beautiful. That’s how you do Sangiovese.
Jancis Robinson
Tasted from cask. A year described as 'very easy' by Gianfanco Soldera. 24,000 bottles expected from their 10 ha of vines, 'classic' quantity and quality. Pale garnet with leaf-mould arias and striking freshness. This glorious wine is so healthily pure and long, it's like the most luxurious mouthwash. I remark that I feel I could almost enjoy this tonight but he assures me it needs another four years in cask. Drink 2022-2044.
