Antinori Tignanello Toscana is a wine ahead of its time. It was the first barrel-aged sangiovese. It was the first modern red wine blend with cabernet. It even veered away from Chianti’s traditional white grapes. As a result, Tignanello Toscana launched the Super Tuscan movement en route to universal critical acclaim.

The Tignanello 2020 is so pristine, so intensely fruity, that it almost tastes like a barrel sample. A burst of red Sangiovese fruit opens first, followed later by notes of blood orange, cinnamon, spices, dried flowers and mocha. With time in the glass, the impressive dimensions emerge. In 2020, the Tignanello is wonderfully supple and racy, with fine tannins lying beneath a core of bright, plastic fruit. The balance here is simply superb. I can't wait to try the 2020 again as it ages.
