Chateau Prieure Lichine is a 500-year old Bordeaux estate located in the Cantenac commune in France. It is one of the oldest Bordeaux wineries nestled in the Margaux appellation. 

Its unique Bordeaux blends exemplify the diverse terroirs of the estate.

The chateau’s Grand Vin is classified as a Quatriemes Cru (Fourth Growth.) It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Chateau Prieure Lichine is located close to the reputed chateaux of Kirwan and Boyd-Cantenac in the Margaux appellation. 

 Its vineyard extends over 77.5 hectares on the left bank of the Gironde estuary. It is divided into 150 parcels with varying terroir, spread across the 5 communes of the appellation. 

The soil is predominantly composed of gravel, sand, and clay.    

The grapes for the white wine (Le Blanc de Prieure Lichine) come from a small 1.5-hectare vine parcel in the Arsac commune.

The winemaking at Chateau Prieure Lichine incorporates classic and modern techniques

After the grapes are hand-harvested, they are sorted and destemmed. Then the crushed grapesundergo fermentation in double-skinned concrete vats.

The fermented wine is aged in French oak barrels for about 14-16 months depending on the wine style.  

The chateau produces about 20,000 cases of the Grand Vin and 7,000 cases of the second wine a year.
