Why We're Buying

Guigal, formally known as Établissements Guigal, is the defining Rhône winery. La Mouline, which is part of the estate's La La trilogy featuring La Landonne and La Turque, is a highly revered syrah-viognier blend. In 2007, the La La wines set the record for most expensive Rhône wines ever, retailing at $800 per bottle.

This is alluring, with steeped currant, dark truffle, roasted apple wood and espresso aromas and flavors all mingling together, backed by a solid spine of charcoal and ganache. A sanguine edge runs underneath and should emerge more as this softens in the cellar. Best from 2013 through 2025.
