The vineyard enjoys a magnificent location, and complex soil types, from gravelly bedrock to clay-limestone plots.

The Château Lascombes vineyard comprises 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot. 

Situated in the northwest Margaux appellation, the vineyard is divided into three sections: 

• Gravelly mound for Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot vine plantings
• Clay-gravel region for Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon
• Clay-limestone area highly suited to Merlot

The winery is built on four levels and has gravity flow systems. Vinification takes place in wooden and stainless steel vats. 

Château Lascombes wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in wooden barrels giving it a classic oaky character and enhances the wine structure. 

The Origins of Château Lascombes

The knight Chevalier de Lascombes was the first known owner of Château Lascombes, who inherited the estate from the Durfort de Duras family in the 17th century. At the time, it was known as Domaine de Lascombes. 

Through the centuries, it has been under several owners, including Jean-François de Lascombes, Alexis Lichine, David Rockefeller, the UK brewing company Bass Charrington,  Yves Vatelot, and Colony Capital.
