A Quick Intro To Diebolt Vallois

Diebolt Vallois

The Diebolt Estate is situated in the Grand Cru village of Cramant in the heart of the Côte des Blancs of Champagne

The estate was formed by Jacques Diebolt, who has made a delectable range of wines dominated by the Chardonnay grape varietal since 1959.

The chalky, thin soils in this region are excellent for the Chardonnay grape, and it is here where Diebolt Vallois work their magic with this noble grape.

The wine cellars are sculpted into Cramant's chalky hillsides and are used to store the reserve wines. These reserve wines are aged in 40-hectoliter casks, while the newly bottled wines rest here for a number of years before being disgorged and dosed to a sweetness level of 6-8 g/L.

The Diebolt Vallois family also owns vineyards in the well-known villages of Chouilly, Cuis, Le Mesnil sur Oger, and Epernay (Les Toulettes and Les Hautes Justices.)

Let’s take a look at the different Diebolt Vallois wine styles.

The 6 Wine Styles of Diebolt Vallois

Diebolt Vallois

Diebolt Vallois produces six spectacular wine styles, let’s take a look:

  • The Fleur de Passion Champagne is made in barrel only, following the principles of the first wine Jacques Diebolt made in 1953.  It is made from 100% Chardonnay; it is complex, intense, and long on the palate.
  • The Blanc de Blancs Prestige Champagne is made from Chardonnay from the Grand Cru village of Cramant. These reserve wines are aged 2 to 3 years in 40 hl casks, giving this cuvée prestige complexity, richness, and roundness.
  • The Champagne Vintage Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay and is produced from grapes of a single year when the caliber of the vintage is good enough.
  • A non vintage Brut Champagne - the Champagne Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay from the Cote des Blancs and the Coteaux d'Epernay.
  • The Champagne Tradition is made from the three Champagne grape varieties and is the only white wine of the entire Diebolt Vallois range which is not pure Chardonnay.
  • Pink Champagne Rosé is mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape and has sweet aromas of small red fruits.
