1976 saw early flowering and an intense summer that cut down the traditional 100-day period of harvesting to 84 days. 

The harvest in Epernay and Reims (France) yielded Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes of exceptional maturity that produced outstanding quality wines.

  • 1976 Dom Perignon Brut: $610
  • 1976 Dom Pérignon Oenothèque Brut Millésimé: $1,940

The Dom Perignon Vintage 1976 saw an average price hike of around 18% in 24 months, from $519 in 2019 to $610 in 2021. 

The Oenotheque 1976 sparkling wine had a smaller percentile increase in a shorter period, going from $1740 in 2020 to $1940 in 2021.  

Auction performance should be noted as well. In 2008, three magnums of Dom Perignon Oenotheque (1966, 1973, and 1976 vintages) sold for a record $93,240 at an Acker Merrall & Condit auction in Hong Kong.

The medium gold 1976 Dom Perignon Brut has a nose with strong aromas of peach fruit and raisins. On the palate, it has a fine depth with a hint of acidity. 

The second release of this vintage Champagne, in the 1976 Oenotheque, displays a sensual floweriness and a lush palate of mirabelle plums and raisins.
