Why We're Buying
If grace and finesse are the trademarks of Pauillac, then the characteristics only belong to a few châteaux. Château Haut Batailley is one of them. The wine estate creates quintessential Bordeaux red blends with a femininity that's uncommon in the region.
Critics Scores
Wine Spectator
Black licorice and blackberry aromas follow through to a medium-to-full body, fine tannins and a silky finish. Best after 2007.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Tasted at a vertical tasting at the château. The 2003 Haut Batailley has a pleasant nose of black fruit and warm gravel, just a hint of licorice in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple, gamey entry. There is an animally aspect to this mature Haut-Batailley which is approachable and charming. It does reflect the vintage more than the terroir but it is still perfectly enjoyable with a lovely savory finish. Drink now and over several years. Tasted July 2016. Drink Date 2017 - 2027
