Why We're Buying

Roberto Voerzio bridges modern and traditional winemaking techniques. On the one hand, its 15-day macerations fit in the old school. On the other hand, its small barrique aging fits in the new school. The ability to balance these two worlds in one wine is why investors pay whatever price to get a hold of Roberto Voerzio Barolo Rocche.

White truffles and red fruits all over. Full and silky, with loads of fruit in the back palate. Juicy and wonderful. Love it. Powerful style. Great depth. Hard not to drink it, but built for aging. Try it after 2015.

Vinous

The 2007 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata/Torriglione is one of the more reserved wines in this line-up. Stylistically it is a touch leaner and more focused than the rest of Voerzio's 2007s. Fragrant dark cherries, minerals, mint, pine and spices emerge gracefully from the Rocche.

Pure, round and packed with sweet cherry and raspberry aromas and flavors, this Barolo is elegant and vibrant, featuring an almost seamless texture until dusty tannins show up on the finish. Nonetheless, the wine is integrated, picking up spice and tobacco nuances on the finish. Best from 2014 through 2028. 416 cases made
