Critics Scores
James Suckling
This is extremely fine and linear with a beautiful core of ripe and fresh fruit. Fresh mushroom too. Plenty of dried cherry and strawberry aromas and flavors. Lasts for minutes on the palate. Better in 2020.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Cordella is located in the northern Torrenieri quadrant of the Montalcino appellation, which is characterized by thicker clay soils and heavier wines. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva opens to a black and impenetrable appearance, and dense aromas of black cherry and spice. This subzone tends to show more black fruit aromas of blackberry and plum, whereas the other areas of Montalcino veer towards red and purple fruit aromas. The mouthfeel is thick and powerful, and the wine shows big structure and a slightly rugged or wild personality.
Wine Enthusiast
Underbrush, tilled soil raspberry leather compote hint of baking spice meld together on this full-bodied wine. The ample palate boasts a core of juicy black cherry while notes of vanilla, mocha and cake spice provide accent. Fine-grained tannins lend structure. Drink 2018–2028.
