A Quick Look at the Dominio de Pingus Winery

Dominio de Pingus is owned by the young Danish oenologist Peter Sisseck, who has acquired his winemaking skills in Bordeaux. 

The winery is pretty new (it started in 1995) and extremely successful. The Pingus wines are considered the greatest in Spain and command high prices in the wine industry.

The Tempranillo grapes for Flor de Pingus wines come from 35 year old vines, grown on 35 hectares of vineyard lands. In the vineyard, the vine plantings undergo various biodynamic viticulture practices. 

In the cellar, the must goes through primary and malolactic fermentation with indigenous yeasts for 20 days. To be classified as Crianza, the second wine is aged for at least 18 months in new French oak barrels.

The resulting wines are of the highest quality and can easily compete with some of the best Rioja wines.
