Critics Scores
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The blockbuster 1998 The Hat Trick (a 52 Shiraz 42 Grenache and 6 Cabernet Sauvignon blend that produced 500 cases) is a prodigious effort. Opaque purple-colored with an explosive nose of melted chocolate pepper blackberry jam and cassis this chewy full-throttle monster red reveals no hard edges. The integration of acidity alcohol and tannin have been easily accomplished but the level of fruit extract is mind-boggling. This wine should drink well for 15-25 years but who will have the patience to wait?
Wine Spectator
Beautiful purity to the violet and blackberry aromas followed by notes of sage and earth all wrapped in a cloak of lively acidity and firm tannins. Well balanced and promising for the future. Shiraz Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2001 through 2005. 500 cases made. –BS
