Why We're Buying
Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne is everything someone could want in a Barolo. It's balanced, coiled, and deep with a sweet finish. The 2016 vintage is the pinnacle of Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne. Wine critic Monica Larner, who gave it a 100-point rating, wrote, "I found it to be unforgettable, quite literally, inspiring one of those celebrated "wow" moments that we wine lovers so desperately seek in bottle after bottle."
Critics Scores
Vinous
Medium red. High-pitched, perfumed aromas of blackberry, raspberry, licorice and baking spices. Fairly rich and suave, but less fleshy and deep than usual for a Barolo from this superlative producer. Could use a bit more generosity. Finishes with a firm acid/tannin backbone. Sandrone reportedly made barely one-third of a normal crop from these vines in 2002. 87-89 Points.
