2015 mauro molino, barolo, gallinotto
Why We're Buying
Incredible red wine doesn't have to cost a fortune. Mauro Molino Barolo Gallinotto comes from the splendid Gallinotto vineyard with south-south-west exposure and calcareous clay and marl soil. The pristine conditions yield a wine with incredible energy and aging potential.
Critics Scores
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This wine is named after a vineyard site that is privately registered to the Mauro Molino estate. The 2015 Barolo Gallinotto opens to volume and power with a subtle touch of sweet cherry fruit and baking spice (from the oak aging in both botte grande and barrique). Pretty aromas of tilled earth appear at the back. The wine already shows a careful balancing act between its primary fruit and those secondary notes that come from the extended winemaking process, but this wine still needs time to integrate fully.
James Suckling
Very, very perfumed with dark berries, vanilla and dried flowers. Full-bodied, round and juicy with a rich and flavorful finish. Lots going on. Needs three or four years to soften. Try in 2022.
