2014 roagna, barbaresco, albesani
Why We're Buying
Roagna Barbaresco Albesani captures all the things people know and love about Barbaresco. The nebbiolo is aromatic, pure, and precise, with an energy that's hard to find in other wines. In 2020, wine critic Ian McFadden ranked the 2014 Roagna Barbaresco Albesani as his wine of the year, saying “no one is making Barbaresco at the same level.”
The 2014 Barbaresco Albesani is frankly on another level relative to the other Barbarescos Luca Roagna has recently added to his range. Explosive in its aromatic intensity and ample on the palate, the Albesani will leave readers who enjoy classically built wines weak at the knees. Everything that makes Nebbiolo so alluring comes through in this stunning Barbaresco. Freshly cut flowers, mint, chalk and sweet red cherries all race through this delicious and very promising Barbaresco. This is just a great expression of Nebbiolo.
Sleek and linear, sporting cherry, eucalyptus, licorice, iron and tea flavors. Intense, but a tad more flesh would buffer the chewy tannins. Long and vibrant on the finish. Best from 2023 through 2040.
