How is Bellavista Franciacorta Made?

Bellavista Franciacorta wines are made from the traditional Champagne method.

The pressed grapes go through first fermentation in small oak barrels for 6 months.

The wine is then bottled with lees, sugar, and yeast for bottle fermentation. It gives Franciacorta its signature bubbles.

The winemaker lays the bottles horizontally for secondary fermentation, which increases the pressure and effervescence in the bottle. 

Unlike Champagne, Franciacorta ages for a minimum of 18 months for a basic bottle and at least 60 months for a riserva.

Each bottle is rotated daily for about a month to help the lees settle at the bottle’s neck, which is later removed and replaced with still wine.

Vittorio Moretti founded the Bellavista wine company in the early 1970s, and the vineyard sits on the Bellavista Hill overlooking the Po Valley and Lake Iseo.
