The estate is located in the Ludon commune of the Haut-Médoc appellation in Bordeaux.

This French wine displays aromas of orange peel and marzipan. On the palate, the wine is bold, tannic, dry and acidic.

Winemaking At Chateau La Lagune

Sitting on the edge of the Gironde Estuary, the La Lagune vineyard has exceptional terroir and  72 hectares under vine (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, and 10% Cabernet Franc.) 

The La Lagune vineyard is certified organic and is working towards biodynamic certification.

Winemaker Caroline Frey uses winemaking techniques similar to those of Chateau Haut Brion to produce her aromatic and elegant Grand Cru Classe.

Let’s take a look at the vinification process:

• In the gravity-fed winery, perfectly mature grapes are sorted carefully before malolactic fermentation in thermo-regulated steel vats. 

• Wine is blended before aging in 50 - 60% new French oak barrels for 18 months.

• Wine bottles are racked several times to eliminate lees and for refined aging. 

• The final stage of the vinification process includes egg fining to remove harsh tannin particles.

On average, around 20,000 cases of wines are produced a year.
