FAQ / About Vinovest

How does it work?

Vinovest makes wine and whiskey investing simple and straightforward. Here’s what you can expect on your investing journey.

Step 1: Create an Account

You don't need to be a master sommelier to create an account with Vinovest. Just fill out your basic information, and you'll be on your way.

We'll also ask you a few short questions to better understand your goals, risk tolerance, and time horizons. Your answers will help us select the best wines and whiskey for your portfolio.

Step 2: Fund Your Account

Vinovest accepts bank account transfers, credit cards, debit cards, wire transfers, paper checks, and cryptocurrency. The minimum balance is $1,000, which guarantees access to our Starter tier. You can gain additional benefits and perks with our Plus, Premium, and Grand Cru tiers.

Step 3: Vinovest Builds Your Portfolio

Once you fund your account, our master sommeliers use proprietary algorithms to choose the best wines for your portfolio. We source our wine and whiskey through direct connections worldwide to ensure the lowest possible prices and highest returns. As soon as we buy the wine, we'll send you an email about the new goodies in your portfolio.

Step 4: Vinovest Protects Your Wines

A lot of work goes in behind the scenes to protect your wine, which is why it takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete your portfolio. We want clients to have complete control and peace of mind when it comes to their portfolios. Some of the steps we take include:

  • Authentication - Authentication is paramount. That’s why we determine the provenance of your wine before adding it to your portfolio.

  • Shipping - We ship your wine to our nearest bonded warehouse, which minimizes our carbon footprint.

  • Storage - We store your wine in bonded warehouses, which come with humidity and temperature control, on-site security, and 24/7 CCTV. The facilities are so secure that the British royal family uses the same site in the UK to store their wines.

  • Insurance - Every portfolio comes with a full insurance policy. If something happens to your wine, we’ll compensate you at full market price.

  • Proof of Ownership - Every time you add wine to your portfolio, we'll provide you with ownership certificates. These legal documents prove that you are the sole owner of the bottles.

Step 5: Watch Your Portfolio Grow

Now is a good time to kick back, relax, and enjoy a glass of vino. In the meantime, you have real-time access to your portfolio growth. We will also alert you of unique buying opportunities where you can add blue-chip wines and coveted vintages to your collection.

Step 6: Sell Your Wine

Every wine has a multi-year drinking window. Our wine experts work with you to determine when a wine or whiskey will peak in value and when to sell.

Of course, you don’t have to sell. You can continue to store your bottles or drink them yourself.

Bonus Step: Add Additional Funds

Note: fine wine and whiskey are long-term, illiquid assets. Selling wine and whiskey outside of its ideal selling window may result in the rate of appreciation not covering costs and expenses, such as Vinovest transaction fees and third party costs to sell the wine or spirit.
