1995 chateau canon premier grand cru classe b, saint-emilion grand cru
Why We're Buying
Château Canon (Saint-Émilion Grand Cru) is a Bordeaux icon. The grand vin has been considered one of the top wines in Saint Émilion since the early 20th century.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Tasted at the Château Canon vertical, the 1995 Canon is a controversial wine whereby a proportion of the bottles were affected by an infection in the winery. It's a lottery what you will find in your glass and so I requested a bottle to find out for myself at the property. The nose is quite foursquare, although there are some attractive mulberry and leathery aromas. It is on the palate that the problem occurs because if feels very dry and bitter, especially on the finish. It's not a terrible Saint Emilion by any means, but it is clear that this is a long way from where it should have been and any bottles should be drunk now. It's a shame because you can envisage a satisfying wine. But you cannot taste what should have been, just what is. Tasted October 2015.
