Why We're Buying
Château Le Tertre Roteboeuf (St. Émilion Grand Cru) exemplifies the class and quality of its appellation. It has low-yielding vineyards, making its merlot-dominant blend supremely concentrated and rich. Currently, it ranks as one of the most expensive red wines from St. Émilion grand cru, with a price that has steadily risen over the past decade.

The 2019 Château Tertre Roteboeuf shows the more elegant, polished style of the vintage nicely yet still has that sexy, perfumed, complex style that's the hallmark of this cuvée. Loads of crème de cassis, kirsch liqueur, tobacco, white chocolate, espresso, and violet notes emerge on the nose, and this full-bodied beauty has a wonderful sense of balance and elegance, present tannins, and a great finish. It's going to be a relatively accessible vintage from this great estate, yet I would bet on it evolving for 25 years or more. 95-97
