2019 l'if, saint-emilion
Why We're Buying
Château L'If has made its name on Bordeaux red blends that feature 70 merlot and 30 cabernet franc. The estate manages 14 separate parcels in Saint-Émilion, selecting only the finest fruit during harvest. It is part of the reason why investors can only find 1,000 cases of Château L'If each year. Additionally, the price for this red wine rose 42.2 from 2017 to 2021.
Critics Scores
Vinous
The 2019 L'If is a wine of pure and total sophistication. Statuesque and vertical in its intensity, the 2019 dazzles from the very first taste. There is an explosive energy to the 2019 that is simply remarkable. Sweet floral and spice notes soar out of the glass, followed by layers of dark raspberry, leather and cedar that fill out the wine's frame. The 2019 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. There's not much more I can add.
James Suckling
A juicy, savory red with red fruit, tobacco, chocolate, hazelnuts and sweet earth. It's medium-to full-bodied with firm yet polished tannins and a flavorful finish. Silky and refined. Complex finish, showing mushrooms, leaves and forest fruit.
