2018 domaine henri boillot, volnay premier cru, les chevrets
Why We're Buying
Don't let the rose petal and cherry aromas fool you. There's much more to Domaine Henri Boillot En Chevret than scent. This full-bodied pinot noir also has a seductive mouthfeel, juicy acids, and wonderful length. After trying the 2018 vintage, wine critic William Kelley called it a "quintessentially elegant Volnay."

An even prettier and more complex nose shyly offer up its notes of essence of black raspberry, cherry and spiced plum. The succulent yet racy flavors possess a seductive texture and relatively sophisticated mouthfeel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the balanced and linear finish that also reflects a touch of youthful austerity. Lovely.

The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, rose petals, cassis and violets. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with an ample chassis of powdery tannins, fine concentration and succulent acids. From a parcel of 58-year-old vines, this is a quintessentially elegant Volnay that should also drink well young
