Why We're Buying
Domaine Ponsot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru uses only the best grapes from one of the best parcels in France. The result is a flawless cuvée with a seamless body, never-ending depth, and a warm finish. Unsurprisingly, this chardonnay ranks as one of the most coveted wines from Corton-Charlemagne.
Critics Scores
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
As good a rendition of this cuvée as I can remember tasting, the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is superb, unfurling in the glass with aromas of beeswax, white flowers, crisp yellow orchard fruit and wet stones, with nuances of nutmeg and fresh apricot emerging as it sits in the glass. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a concentrated core, succulent acids and a wonderful sense of energy and tension that balances its comparatively broad shoulders. It's produced from two parcels in Aloxe-Corton, one warmer and the other cooler.

A ripe and very fresh nose offers up notes of essence of Granny Smith apples, mineral reduction, spiced pear and plenty of floral elements. The surprisingly supple medium-bodied flavors are quite forward while offering good if not genuinely special depth and persistence on the dry but not austere finale.
