2017 tortochot, morey-saint-denis premier cru, renaissance
Why We're Buying
Domaine Tortochot Renaissance stands out for its elegance and purity. The pinot noir has a balanced demeanor and soft tannins with a fruity punch that lends itself to younger drinking. In 2020, the premier cru wine appreciated 11.9%.
A subtle but not imperceptible touch of wood sets off the moderately high-toned essence of wild red cherry, green tea and lavender gives way to nicely voluminous medium weight flavors that possess a satisfying richness, all wrapped in a dusty and lingering if not especially complex finale. More depth will undoubtedly develop but I doubt that this will ever be truly distinguished.
