Why We're Buying
Bentrock is the most cherished vineyard in the Sandhi portfolio. The vineyard sits on the southwestern tip of the Santa Rita Hills, soaking in ample sunshine and cool ocean breezes. The serene location yields high-quality chardonnay that’s the epitome of class and sophistication.
Critics Scores
Wine Enthusiast
Rajat Parr’s single-vineyard expression may be the priciest white wine in the region, but it does impress, with aromas of lemon curd, limestone and macadamia-nut mousse. There’s just the right combination of oak, fruit and acid on the palate, with flavors of sea salt, yellow flowers and a pinch of cinnamon.
Wine Spectator
Shows off generous ripe apple, melon and white nectarine flavors that are sharply focused, juicy and lively, ending with a long, mouthwatering aftertaste. Drink now through 2022. 430 cases made.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2012 Chardonnay Bent Rock Sta. Rita Hills is a stunning effort that has fantastic tension and focus in its mineral-laced citrus peel, stone fruits, warm spice and brioche-styled aromas and flavors. As with all of the Sandhi releases, it has fabulous purity of fruit and a layered, lightly textured, silky feel. It too should drink nicely through 2019, although I see no need to hold off.
