Why We're Buying

Old vines are the key to Domaine Simon Bize et Fils Les Talmettes. The youngest vines are 50+ years old, contributing to the well-defined texture and complexity. This pinot noir delivers superb quality at an exceptional value, especially considering its 42.6 return on investment from 2017 to 2021.

As I mentioned above the Talmettes here in 2018 is one of only two wines that did not include one hundred percent whole clusters as there was simply not enough room in the fermenters for all of the stems! The thirty percent or so that was de-stemmed seems to have given the wine an early sheen that is pretty rare for a Domaine Bize wine but which works very nicely with the style of the vintage as it delivers a fine bouquet of black cherries sappy dark berries French roast bonfire gamebird and a complex base of dark soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure full-bodied complex and sappy at the core with lovely soil signature ripe seamless tannins and fine backend minerality perking up the long and very classy finish. Just a lovely bottle in the making. (Drink between 2027-2060)
