Why We're Buying

Cuvée Joséphine is the most popular and sought-after offering from Champagne Joseph Perrier. The estate uses a blend of pinot noir and chardonnay from grand cru and premier cru estates, resulting in an ethereal and lively wine. Since its debut in 1982, only nine vintages have been released.

Decanter

The 2008 Cuvée Joséphine constitutes only the ninth edition of this iconic cuvée, coming after 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2002 and 2004. It has a powerful aromatic intensity with white flowers, orchard fruit, mint and white pepper, while the dense, generous yet silky texture is supported by finely-judged acidity. (Drink between 2022-2050)

Wine Enthusiast

This is the producer's prestige cuvée, a fine perfumed blend with a great balance between the ripe fruitiness, the balanced dosage and a crisp edge of pink-grapefruit flavors. This impressive vintage with its hints of toasty maturity is ready to drink.

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

A blend of roughly equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the 2008 Brut Cuvée Josephine was disgorged after ten years sur lattes. Offering up a reserved bouquet of warm biscuits, dried citrus rind and yellow apple, it's medium to full-bodied, with a somewhat firm and compact profile, missing the plenitude that characterizes some of the house's more recent offerings. This is a creditable but somewhat conservative effort that seems to have more to do with the house's past than its future.
