Why We're Buying
Champagne is having a breakout moment, and Paul Bara Comtesse Marie de France Grand Cru Brut Millésimé is leading the charge. The intense and minerally Champagne gets its complexion from the deep, chalky subsoils around Montagne de Reims. This pinot noir-dominant blend appreciated 43.8 from 2017 to 2021.

Vinous
The 2004 Brut Grand Cru Comtesse Marie de France is beautifully focused in the glass, with much of the pure energy and verve that is missing in the Special Club. The interplay of freshness from the year allied to the inherent vinous richness of Bouzy Pinot Noir yields a striking Champagne that truly dazzles. This is a knock-out from Paul Bara. The Comtesse Marie de France is 100 Pinot Noir from the estate's oldest vines. Disgorged: January 2015. Nov 2015, www.vinous.com, Drink 2015-2025
