The Castello del Poggio Wine Estate

Castello del Poggio Estate

The Castello del Poggio estate was established in 1699 and is over three centuries old.

In 1985, it was bought by Italy’s largest family owned wine company, Zonin Family Estates

The historic headquarters of the Zonin family are situated amidst the lush green hills in Gambellara. In 2014, Commendatore' Domenico Zonin was appointed as the President of the company. He continued his family's historical passion for winemaking and entrepreneurial spirit.

Under his tenure, the Castello del Poggio estate has undergone dramatic transformations in reviving the vineyard lands and perfecting the quality of the Moscato wine.

The vineyard covers roughly 395 acres and the vinification is carried out in huge Slavonian wine presses as well as modern French wine barrels.

The grape juice extraction is done with a wooden wine press. The fermentation is carried out until the wine reaches 7% ABV. This method helps preserve the grape's natural sugar content and aromas.

Apart from their Moscato wines, Castello del Poggio is also known for producing other wine styles like Barbera Asti, Dolcetto, and Merlot
