A Quick Intro To Domaine Trapet

domaine-trapet-1.jpg

The esteemed Domaine Trapet was founded by Louis Trapet in 1870. It has two estates - one in Burgundy and the other in the Alsace region.

It’s one of the few estates that started grafting vines over American rootstock to fight the phylloxera outbreak. This grafting strategy helped the Trapet family produce the best vines, so the winery supplied wine to other large estates like Joseph Drouhin and Maison Leroy.

Domaine Trapet was known as Domaine Louis Trapet until its vineyard sites were split in 1993. Jean Louis Trapet, Louis Trapet’s grandson, inherited half of the estate - the Domaine Trapet Pere et Fils.

Meanwhile, Jean Louis Trapet’s cousins, Nicolas and David Rossignol, got the other half of the estate known as Domaine Rossignol Trapet.
