The 2017 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape with some Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc. 

This wine exudes the aroma of black currant and black cherry, with vanilla and hints of berry. You’ll find the flavor of blackberry, black cherry, cassis, plum, and blackcurrant on the palate, with spice and vanilla supported by dusty tannins that add structure to the juiciness of the fruit. 

2. 2017 Robert Mondavi Reserve To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon:

This Cabernet Sauvignon wine reflects the elegance and power of the To Kalon Vineyard terroir. Made of 94.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the rest comprising Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc - it showcases a lively acidity and fine tannins that coat the mouth.

3. Robert Mondavi Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon:

This layered red wine exudes the aroma of blackberry fruit, graham cracker, and brown sugar.

The 2017 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignons garnered plenty of good reviews.

2017 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon:

  • James Suckling awarded this wine 93 points, stating that it is “balanced and juicy with chocolate, spice, walnut and currant character.” 
  • Antonio Galloni rated it at 90 points, stating it "is a rich, boisterous wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring." 

He adds that it features "Ripe dark cherry, plum, leather, chocolate, spice and menthol" flavors at the "front and center in this boisterous, explosive Napa Valley Cabernet.” 

2017 Reserve To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon:

  • Wilfred Wong awarded this wine 94 points with the commentary that it “is an outstanding Napa Valley effort. This excellent wine shines with aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, violets, licorice, and a lovely note of oak.”

2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville:

  • Jeb Dunnuck awarded the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 90 points (in January 2020), stating "this wine offers more blackcurrants and cassis fruit" and "a touch of chocolate and espresso, medium to full body, some earth and tobacco notes," along with "ripe yet present tannins, and outstanding length.” 

He also mentions that it is “based on 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 2% each of Malbec and Merlot, it’s well worth drinking any time over the coming decade or more.”
