The Remarkable Trimbach Estate

Trimbach Winery

The beautiful Maison Trimbach was founded in 1626 by Jean Trimbach in Alsace, France. Since then, it’s had 12 generations of winemakers who’ve been committed to crafting high-quality Alsace wines.

Trimbach has always been reputed for its impeccable winemaking techniques. However, it acquired true international fame in 1898 when Frederic Emile Trimbach received the highest honor at the International Wine Fair in Brussels.

Today, it’s run by Frederic’s daughter, Hubert Trimbach, and his nephews, Pierre and Jean Trimbach.

The 5 Beautiful Trimbach Wine Styles

Trimbach Wine Styles

Here are Trimbach’s incredible wine styles:

1. The Classics

These wines are made using the finest grapes from Ribeauvillé and surrounding villages. The wines include:

  • Riesling: Riesling is one of the world’s finest and most widely planted grapes. In the Alsace region, it produces wines with delicate floral aromas, rich, fruity flavors, and a dry finish.
  • Pinot Blanc: The Pinot Blanc grape is a white mutation of Pinot Noir. Trimbach Pinot Blanc wines are dry, fruity, acidic, and well-balanced.
  • Gewurztraminer: This white wine grape produces dry, fruity, and spicy Alsace wines with floral notes.
  • Sylvaner: The Sylvaner grape produces light and fresh Alsace wines with herbaceous flavors and ripe fruit notes.

2. Reserve Wines

Trimbach’s Reserve wines are made using high-quality, fully-ripe grapes from Ribeauvillé. This range comprises the following wines:

  • Riesling Reserve: Trimbach’s Riesling Reserve wines are fruity, well-structured, balanced, and offer a dry finish.

Trimbach’s Terroir And Impeccable Winemaking Techniques

Trimbach Winery Terroir

The Trimbach family owns over 40 hectares of vineyard sites which are sheltered by the Vosges mountain. The estate’s vineyards comprise rich, complex calcareous limestone soils.

The Trimbach winery is focused on producing high-quality wines through sustainable wine-growing practices like close pruning.

So, how are Trimbach wines produced?

The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed, and the juice is gently carried into the cellars by gravity. From there, winemaker Pierre Trimbach carefully vinifies and matures the wines inside old wooden casks and stainless steel tanks.
